About Me

How I became a designer

My interest in interior design started to emerge shortly after high school. I started to notice how a good design can really make you feel welcome in a space. Lighting, colors, textures and styles can change the ambiance of a room. I started helping family and friends design their homes to reflect their personalities and lifestyles. Shortly after, I finally chose the direction I wanted to go with my college classes. I obtained my AA degree in Interior Design, with a certificate in interior retail merchandising. I have over 10 years of experience in residential design, and have completed space planning and renderings for a few commercial spaces. I love to travel and find myself inspired with every trip I take. I also find inspiration in nature, and enjoy gardening. After 15 years in the insurance industry, am excited to change career paths to pursue my passion.

This was my first time working with Becka. She was fun to work with and full of great ideas. The contractor was difficult (poor follow through; some sloppy work) and I'm so grateful that she handled everything so professionally. She always followed through with phone calls, meetings, and supervising the contractor. When the contractor walked off without taking care of some final details (adjusting a shower faucet; cleaning up sloppy paint), Becka came in with her tools and paintbrushes and finished everything beautifully. She turned a small galley kitchen into a bright, open, functional space with a buffet area that is perfect for hosting. She had patience when stress levels were high and was able to make well-thought out decisions while staying within deadlines. Her knowledge of design processes and timelines enabled her to work well with vendors (who also loved working with her) while she was keeping them on task. This is the third project we have worked on with Becka. She is pleasant to work with and open-minded. She guided us through the whole project and went with us to remnant yards to find the perfect countertop for our dry bar, laundry room and window sill project. She gathered quotes from several companies to find something suitable not only for our budget but the installation as a whole. Becka is very knowledgeable about different design aspects, and she definitely knows her craft.
